Downtown Tuesday 3 Yr Anniversary & FREE Party Bus!

Downtown Tuesday 3 Yr Anniversary & FREE Party Bus!

Downtown Tuesday, celebrated three successful years with a special celebration at Rio Rio Cantina today!

The program aims to attract residents and visitors to downtown with FREE parking at all City-operated parking garages, lots and meters every Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. Downtown Tuesday has more than 70 partners, including restaurants, bars, attractions and museums, which offer Tuesday-only specials.

Since its inception, the program has seen an increase in car counts of more than 65 percent at City-operated garages and lots. The program’s success has encouraged partners to create programming that complements the free parking offered on Tuesday evenings. Street performers, walking/running/biking tours, family activities, pop-up shops and unique special events are some of the exciting options awaiting downtown’s Tuesday night visitors.

“We look forward to expanding the success of the Downtown Tuesday initiative,” District 1 City Councilman Roberto C. Treviño said. “It makes our downtown more vibrant and welcoming to residents and visitors alike.”

To further encourage residents and visitors to explore downtown, The City of San Antonio announced an exciting partnership with VIA Metropolitan Transit and Centro San Antonio. “The E” is a new, free downtown circulator providing an easy and convenient way to explore entertainment venues, dining and cultural sites downtown. The route provides frequent service to the Tobin Center, the Convention Center and other venues, restaurants and hotels in between. The E will run every 10 minutes from 6 p.m. until midnight, Tuesday through Saturday. Visit for an interactive map showing how The E can get you to great places for arts, culture and entertainment. Service begins March 28, 2015.

“VIA is proud to announce the launch of The E alongside our many community partners today. This new service reflects VIA’s continued commitment to a robust presence in downtown, and provides a great travel option in and around the downtown area,” said VIA Board Secretary Marc Harrison.

The E is sponsored in part by the City of San Antonio’s Center City Development & Operations Department and Centro San Antonio through the support of the Centro Public Improvement District.

“The E offers a fabulous opportunity to showcase downtown San Antonio as an entertainment hub and to conveniently connect people to the places they want to visit. We want to make it easy for people to take advantage of everything downtown has to offer. We’re excited to be a part of the launch of this new service,” said Pat DiGiovanni, Centro San Antonio President & CEO.

This evening, Downtown Tuesday will continue the celebration with a “Be-Cause” event— a progressive dinner on the River Walk with stops at Mad Dog’s British Pub, Rio Rio Cantina and Landry’s Seafood. The proceeds will benefit United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.
