SA has more folks than ATX and is bigger than BIG D, yet by comparison, our design market has always been less than a creative beacon on the national level. At best, SA has been an occasional dim and distant light as seen from the center of the known design universe. And, suffering a reputation as a source for fast, cheap and easy creative, this market isn’t usually thought of as the ideal launching pad for a stellar “big market” design career.

So, how could a native-born, locally-based designer shine so brightly at the national level, and sustain a successful twenty-year design career while working and living in our big small town? Simply put: fast, cheap and easy had nothing to do with it.

Roland sees himself as more than local, but he’s unmistakably SA to the core. And, he’s going to tell it like he sees it. He will share his passion for great design and his ethos on designing big within a market that’s always felt a bit too small for its britches.
