Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio Festival and Competition

In its 6th year, the Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio Festival, High School and All-Star Competition is day long festival beginning with performances from area professional mariachis and folklorico dancers. This year featuring Mariachis Amador, Sangre de Jalisco, Los Parientes, Los Palominos (Palo Alto College), Fiesta de San Antonio, and Bailando Sin Fronteras (Dance Troupe).

While listening to the sounds of area mariachis, stroll in the historic Main Plaza and visit one of the many local artisans anxious to share information about their craft.

The day-long festivities culminate in a competition between San Antonio area high schools for the title of ‘Best High School Level Mariachi’ in the San Antonio Area. As well, individuals compete for a spot in Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio, an all-area high school all-star level mariachi. This year featuring students from Somerset HS, Holmes HS, Thomas Jefferson HS, Southwest HS, Southwest Legacy HS, Brennen HS, South San HS, and Brackenridge HS. The competition begins at 4:00pm.

Performance at 8:00pm by Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio with special guest star, Flaco Jimenez and a cameo appearance by Patsy Torres!

The festival and competition are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and FREE to attend.
