Tex Mex Food: The Real Story

In 1800s, Texas Mexican business women ran outdoor diners, and their delicious cooking made San Antonio a culinary destination, tourists arriving via railroad.
Cookbook author Ad├ín Medrano will show the history of these original Texas Mexican restaurateurs, and cook some of their food, a full Holiday Buffet Menu, with tasting samples for all. He will also sign copies of his award-winning cookbook: “Truly Texas Mexican: A Native Culinary Heritage In Recipes” published by Texas Tech University Press.

Chef Medrano is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.He grew up in San Antonio and Nava, Coahuila, where he learned the intricacies of Texas Mexican style cooking.
